On the weekend of September 17th and 18th, The Barnyard Shopping Village is presenting the Monterey Bay Oktoberfest at its new outdoor event space. This traditional German style outdoor festival promises to be a rousing beer garden party, with all the foamy fun and frivolity that millions of beer lovers across the world have come to enjoy.
In a huge tent set up on the grounds adjacent to The Barnyard and Highway 1, revelers will listen and dance to the oompah happiness of The Internationals a Bay Area-based band that bills itself as: “Dance music from everywhere.” www.theinternationals.com Fresh off their San Francisco Oktoberfest performance The Internationals’ saxophone, tuba, traps, accordion and free flowing musical joy equal a full day of smiles and memories; of great times spent with old friends and new Oktoberfest acquaintances.
Look for great Oktoberfest food: Bratwurst, Bavarian Chicken, Pretzels and more, select arts and crafts vendors and the full lineup of Barnyard retailers just steps away. Of course there is the beer…ahh, what better than a great big stein of Spaten Lager or Spaten special Oktoberfest brew, imported all the way from Germany. Monterey Bay Oktoberfest, as with all Oktoberfests around the world is about quaffing great beer, partying with wonderful, enthusiastic members of the community and celebrating life.
According to event sponsor Andre Lengecher of The Barnyard’s Lugano Swiss Bistro: “To me, Oktoberfest is a great time of camaraderie, beer, dancing, Lederhosen, fun…it’s just fun.”
VIP Passes include: 1 entrance ticket, 1 dinner (Bavarian bratwurst, Sauerkraut, German Potato Salad and Fresh dinner roll), 2 Spaten Beers, 1 Glass Beer stein to take home, 1 giant Pretzel, $10 gift certificate for Lugano swiss bistro, VIP seating and service by the St. Pauli girls
Fun is what the Oktoberfest tradition is all about. The home base of all Oktoberfest celebrations takes place in Munich, Germany each year and spans 16-18 days running from late September to the first weekend in October. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and the world’s largest fair, with more than 5 million people attending every year. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the Munich event. Spaten, creators of the first Oktoberfest beer and one of a small exclusive club of German brewers allowed to serve at the prestigious Munich event, is the beer being served at The Monterey Bay Oktoberfest. www.spatenusa.com
Tickets go on sale Monday June 27th and are available on the website www.oktoberfestmontereybay.com or at The Barnyard Shopping Center office or at Lugano Swiss Bistro.
